Role
Branding & Identity
The Women in Cinema Collective was founded to create equal spaces and equal opportunities for women in cinema. The fight against patriarchy and gender biases warranted an identity and visual language that was bold, contemporary, and would have high recall in different contexts. The identity combines the idea of a direct visual of a film camera with an abstract idea of a sea of people behind it, alluding to the idea of a movement/ revolution.

For someone who’s grown up watching Malayalam films, the idea of seeing a group of women fight the fight against deep-rooted patriarchy and lead a movement to create safe, inclusive spaces for women in cinema is very inspiring. Visualising and creating an identity for such a strong revolution and collaborating with this group of feisty, brave women was a privilege.
